This is a surgical practice specializing in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Our primary mission is to bring colon cancer awareness to the community and we offer colonoscopy screening to help achieve this goal. We are also offering minimally invasive surgery as a surgical alternative to our patients who are good candidates for laparoscopic procedures. As the only woman Colo-rectal Surgeon in South Dallas, I am looking forward to providing care to patients who would feel more comfortable being examined by a female physician. In that light, I also hope to meet the expectations of my patients by providing cutting edge technology such as screening colonoscopy and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for ailments such as diverticular disease, rectal prolapse, and cancer. I have recently established an Anal Physiology Lab at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas to evaluate patients with fecal incontinence and constipation. For the first time this technology is available to South Dallas and includes a biofeedback center to treat those who would benefit from this therapy.
I became a doctor because I like helping people who are in need. The question I have been asked more frequently than any other is "why proctology?" The answer is not so simple. I don't think anyone chooses this specialty because of their dying academic interest in the anal canal, nor do patients come to us because of their desire to discuss their unmentionables. But, I have found that if I am willing to listen to the unmentionable and can offer help for those kinds of problems, patients are forever grateful.
